Henning receives top volunteer service award
Oct. 18, 2011 — Tom Henning, Assurity president, chairman and CEO, received the University of Nebraska Foundation’s top volunteer service recognition—the Perry W. Branch Award for Volunteer Service—on Oct. 28 in appreciation of his longtime dedication to the nonprofit.

Henning began his volunteer service for the NU Foundation in 1987 when elected to service as a trustee. He has served on its board of directors for 15 years, including two years as chairman. He currently serves on the organization’s finance committee, audit committee and alternative asset subcommittee. He also serves on the board for the University of Nebraska Foundation Charitable Gift Fund. Henning served on the national campaign committee for the university’s fundraising campaign from 1996 to 2000.

The Branch Award is awarded to a volunteer who assisted the organization with noteworthy progress or whose service directly benefited the organization. The University of Nebraska Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization raising private gifts to support the University of Nebraska since 1936.

Assurity Awarded Governor's Excellence in Wellness Award
Sept. 30 , 2011– Assurity is among 10 Lincoln, Nebraska employers (28 across the state) awarded the Governor's Excellence in Wellness Award! Top Ten United Way Contributor for 2010
Assurity has been honored as a Top 10 contributing company to the Lincoln/Lancaster County United Way for 2010, the third consecutive year it has earned this award. Additionally, 20 of our associates are "Diamond Donors" – those who have given consistently for 25 years or more. Assurity's Vice President and Chief Investment Officer Bill Schmeeckle served as President of the United Way Board of Directors for 2010.

Rotary Clubs' "Salute to Business"
In March 2011, Assurity received the distinguished Salute to Business recognition from the combined Rotary Clubs of Lincoln. Each year the Rotary Clubs honor an organization that has a history of making significant, longtime contributions to the city of the Lincoln and the state of Nebraska. Insurance Industry Leadership Award from iPipeline
Assurity was presented with this award during the iPipeline 2011 Connections Conference in Las Vegas in March of 2011. Called the "Insurance Industry Leadership Award," Assurity was honored to be recognized for "excellence in the implementation and deployment of the iGO E-App" for multiple product lines.

Top Ten United Way Community Supporter for 2009
In April of 2010, Assurity was named among the top ten community supporters as in terms of dollars raised for the United Way. The company had received this award in 2009 for 2008 giving as well. Additionally, Assurity associates earned the number 6 position in Top 10 United Way Fund supporters. (The United Way Fund is supported through undesignated gifts given during the 2009 campaign.)

Cornerstone Award
Assurity received the prestigious Lincoln Chamber of Commerce Cornerstone Award in 2008. This award is presented annually to a local company that shows outstanding leadership through involvement in civic activities and innovative, customer-driven services. President's Volunteer Service Award
Assurity earned the President's Volunteer Service Award recognizing home office associates' participation in the Meals on Wheels program. Assurity received the Bronze level award in both 2007 and 2008.
