Assurity Insured Medical Reimbursement

Increase your key employees’ compensation package with an Insured Medical Reimbursement Plan from Assurity Life. This Group Supplemental Medical Expense Reimbursement Insurance Policy is a benefit not only for your key executives but also a bonus benefit for the company.

Your executives and key people immediately realize an annual benefit (subject to a per-occurrence maximum). With Assurity Life’s Insured Medical Reimbursement Plan, your covered employees and their dependents are eligible to be reimbursed for medical expenses not covered under a base health insurance plan. This allows your company to maintain or add cost-containment features to your existing benefit health insurance plan, yet not adversely affect your key employees.

The business owner decides which class of employees qualifies for the plan. All members of the selected class must be included.

Which medical expenses are covered?

Items covered by an Insured Medical Reimbursement Plan:

• Deductibles, coinsurance and co-pays
• Dental care and orthodontia
• Vision care, eyeglasses and contact lenses
• Hearing aids and examinations
• Annual physicals and other preventive care
• Special health care equipment and supplies
• Professional nursing services
• Transportation needed for medical care
• Prescription drugs
• Expenses for nervous and mental disorders
• Treatment of alcohol and drug abuse

Use the Insured Medical Reimbursement Plan as a recruiting tool or an extra incentive to attract and retain key employees.

Because Assurity Life’s Insured Medical Reimbursement Plan is fully insured, your company’s premium contributions may qualify for a tax deduction as a reasonable and ordinary cost of doing business. Partners and self-employed individuals may be able to deduct a cost along with the premiums for the base medical plan on the front page of their Individual 1040.

Plan design flexibility and additional benefits are available

Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D). Each covered employee can also receive an AD&D Benefit. This benefit will pay a beneficiary the lump sum amount in the event the employee dies as the result of a covered accident. Employees are covered 24 hours a day, seven days a week, regardless of where they travel. Partial benefits will be paid for the loss of a limb or eyesight based on the characteristics of the injury.
